This is a Moroccan Berber rug from Azilal. It is handmade with wool and has a flexible handle.

The rug features a colourful design in blue, pink and yellow, with a square-ish proportion of 133×200 cm. It would work well in a child’s room, bathroom or as a colourful accent elsewhere.

This vintage Moroccan Azilal rug is in very good condition.

Azilal Berber rug

This colourful rug is handwoven in the Azilal region. It has a short pile and is made from 100% premium wool.

Typical of Azilal carpets is a low pile height and colourful geometric designs on a natural wool base. This rug features blue, pink and soft yellow shapes on an off-white background.

Azilal rugs are similar to Beni Ouarain but usually more colourful. Azilal is in the High Atlas Mountains, which are warmer than the Middle Atlas. As a result, the pile is lower than that of Beni Ouarain rugs.

Artisan rug

This Moroccan Azilal rug is handmade by Berber women in the Azilal region. These rugs tend to be more colourful than Beni Ouarain rugs.

Handwoven rugs

Looking after your rug

Shake your rug outside every couple of months and vacuum it regularly. Every few vacuum sessions, also vacuum the reverse side to remove hidden dust.

Stain treatment

Act quickly with spills. Dilute with water and blot using a kitchen towel, starting from the outside and working inward. Do not rub the fibres. Ensure the rug dries fully using a hairdryer, radiator or underfloor heating to avoid damage.

Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals—they can leave a white stain. For best results, use a professional carpet cleaner. Contact us if you need guidance.
