What Is Jute?
Jute is a renewable vegetable fibre harvested from the plant’s stem. Strong, biodegradable and sustainable, it’s ideal for woven rugs. The humid climate of South Asia provides perfect growing conditions for high-quality jute.
When to Use Underlay
Semi-thick rugs such as the jute rug 200 x 300 are heavy enough to stay in place. For thin or lightweight rugs, or when placing on wood or tile, underlay is recommended to improve grip and comfort.
Care and Maintenance
Unlike wool, jute rugs are not washable. To maintain your rug:
- Vacuum on a low suction setting
- Blot spills quickly with a clean, damp cloth
- Keep away from high humidity
- Rotate every few months for even wear
- Trim or tuck any loose fibres
Delivery and Returns
