This recent photo shoot with ROMO places rugs firmly at the centre of each space. Rather than acting as background pieces, our rugs set the tone, define the layout, and influence how the furniture and fabrics sit within the room. The styling shows how a well chosen rug can anchor colour, soften structure, and bring balance to patterned interiors.

The images feature ROMO’s new fabric and wallcovering collections, with the photo names reflecting the fabrics used on sofas and curtains. Our rugs were selected to complement those designs without competing with them, using texture, scale and material to ground each setting.

Fine woven jute rugs used to shape the space
In several of the images, including Elva and Otillo, our fine woven jute rugs are used to create a calm base beneath furniture. Jute works particularly well in styled shoots because it brings warmth without adding visual noise. In these interiors, the rugs soften hard architectural lines and allow patterned upholstery and wallcoverings to stand out.

Using Berber rugs to add texture and contrast
One of the most interesting styling choices in this shoot is the use of our looped Berber rug shown from the reverse side. This rug is fully reversible, and turning it over reveals a different texture and look. Styling the back highlights the flexibility of handwoven rugs and shows how they can be adapted to suit different moods within the same space.
Berber rugs are ideal when you want texture without heavy pattern. Their looped surface adds depth underfoot and works well with both contemporary and mid-century furniture. In the ROMO images, the Berber rug adds softness beneath seating while balancing bold fabric choices on sofas and walls.

Contemporary rugs grounding patterned interiors
The Zephi images feature our grey contemporary rug paired with ROMO’s new fabrics. This rug plays a quiet but important role. Its neutral tone gives the eye somewhere to rest, allowing the patterned upholstery to feel considered rather than overwhelming. This is a good example of how plain or lightly textured rugs can be used to support stronger design elements elsewhere in the room.
This particular rug is currently on sale and suits living rooms where you want a modern, understated base that still feels warm and tactile.
Moroccan Berber rugs as statement pieces
ROMO also styled one of our Moroccan contemporary Berber rugs with the Ottilo fabric. Although this exact rug has now sold, the images show how a geometric Berber rug can act as a focal point while still working alongside patterned fabrics. The key is scale. A larger rug with a clear design gives the furniture room to breathe and stops the space from feeling busy.
Styling takeaways from the shoot
This shoot highlights a few simple but effective styling principles. Start with the rug and build upwards. Use natural materials to ground bold fabrics. Choose scale carefully so patterns feel balanced rather than layered for impact alone. Rugs are not an afterthought here.
