Description
BESPOKE Checkerboard Carpet
Handwoven with premium wool, this checkerboard rug design is simple yet sophisticated!
It is hand knotted with excellent wool and dyes and more in particular the use of handspun wool. The latter gives the rug extra depth, instead of using solid block colours, and translates in a more sophisticated and softer look and feel.
It is handmade with very soft wool and a very short pile height. The low pile makes it work in many different rooms: it works as a living room rug as well as in kitchen areas or in hallways.
Bespoke Size&Colour Combo
This rug is made in a bespoke size and can come in your own choice of colours.
✅ Also a nice classic choice would be a navy blue/white colour combo.
✅ For something more contemporary a sky blue/ with grey -ish check
✅ For something more bold, try using three colours instead if two.
We can use ARS colour reference to decide different colour combo’s.
Do keep in mind that it is handwoven with hand spun wool, which means the rug comes in shades of its colour instead of solid block tones. This adds depth to the rug and gives it a more sophisticated look and colour palette.
Size
You can work with your intuitive Feng Shui compass to determine the size you might need but if that is not getting you anywhere, then please find here some guide lines.
Handwoven rugs
Typical for handmade rugs is that they do not necessarily have perfect symmetrical designs. They have imperfections in design and this is also part of the charm of handwoven rugs and what makes every rug unique.
In this checkerboard design the check motifs are not perfectly square. They have a slight difference in size with yet a symmetrical, balanced look and feel.
They are handwoven in shades of its colour instead of solid block colours as of the handspun wool mentioned above.
Looking after your rug
It is sensible to give your rug a good shake outside every couple of months and hoover it regularly.
If your rug starts to look a little flat, a suitable tip is to vacuum it on the opposite direction of the pile, to help give it some life again.
Every four or five times you hoover your rug, make sure the reverse is also vacuumed because just as much dust an accumulate there, as on the front.
Stain treatment
The quicker you deal with spills, the less chance there is of it staining. The effective way to treat a spill, for example red wine, is to apply water to begin with to dilute the stain, followed by mopping it with a kitchen towel straight away.
Start from the outside of the stain and work inwards to limit the affected area, but do not rub the stain as this can damage the yarn. Once a carpet gets wet, it is important to dry it out thoroughly afterwards, to prevent the wool from rotting.
Don’t use any bleach or chemical treatments as they might take the stain out, but leave a white stain instead. When in doubt, professional carpet cleaning will always remain the best choice. If you need advice on this, pleased get in touch.
