Interior design practice Daw and Co took on this lower-ground apartment on one of Kensington’s most desirable streets! It needed a full refurbishment, starting with remedial damp work. First, they stripped it back to the bricks, then they remodelled some of the spaces followed by decorative schemes which are bold and colourful but still elegant.

The choices reflect the couples’ personalities and interests and it is now a gorgeous, bijoux bolt-hole that lifts their hearts on arrival.

I love how they made our rugs work in the different spaces! An antique Turkish kilim rug in bright blue, yellow and rusty brown tones ties the dinner corner together and one of our thick braided jute rugs adds texture as well as noise reduction properties to the sitting room.
